WHERE DID REFLEXOLOGY COME FROM

Reflexology has been around since there have been people and since recorded history, was used in Ancient Egypt about 2,330 B.C. as can be seen from a tomb painting at Saqqara of Ankhmahor, the highest official after the king. The hieroglyphics read “Don´t hurt me.”. The practitioner´s reply: “I shall act so you praise me.”

The aim is not to cause more pain but to relieve it and gently massage the affected areas without applying more than 12 pounds of pressure, in fact only 3 lbs is used normally.

Reflexology is also known as zone therapy, reflex therapy and Compression Massage.

The Reflexology Association of Canada was granted its non-profit charter by the Federal Government in 1976 and has since been training its members to help people across Canada with this gentle, natural, loving and effective type of session. Members of the RAC have resolved to combine their efforts to ensure public safety and promote the study and exchange of the knowledge and art of reflexology within the profession. To this end, the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR) was established in Toronto in 1990. 1997 marked the 21st anniversary of the arrival of Reflexology in Canada. Current scientific research confirms reflexology´s healing potential.
